History and Current Ownership
Dr. James E. Smith is the president/chairman, and Randle Catron is the executive director of Beale Street Development Corporation. Mr. Catron is also the developer of The Historical Daisy/Interpretive Center on Beale. Mr. Catron was once with the Civil Rights movement under the leadership of Dr. Martin Luther King and Dr. Ralph Abernathy. After the Poor People's campaign in Washington, D.C., Dr. Abernathy encouraged us all to go back in our communities and work to bring about change for the betterment of mankind. Mr. Catron, along with an interracial Board of Directors, tackled the redevelopment of historical Beale Street. Contact us to learn more about our current community work.
